7-2 Cardinals. So much for the Tigers' sweep.

Joe Morgan was beyond horrible on the radio broadcast. Jon Miller mentioned a Washington Post column claiming the Cards were the worst World Series team ever. Morgan went on a never-ending rant about why that couldn't be true.

Then he started saying Miller had said something that he hadn't -- something about the Cardinals being below .500. They're in the World Series, Joe.

The guy is knocking loudly at the door that gets him a -tard suffix after his name.

Did you really just say would OF? From someone who should know English?

As a matter of fact, the worst team in World Series history was, if talent is the guide, the 1906 White Sox. How bad did a lineup have to be in the dead ball era to be known as the Hitless Wonders? Nobody hit back then except Cobb and Wagner.
Of course, they won that Series.

Maybe I work at a Spanish-speaking paper and English is my second language. Ever think of that?

P.S.: I did say "Would of." Count it as part of the youth of America destroying the language.

Did you say "would of" or "woulda"? I'm betting the latter.

Next time she should just sing it as it should be instead of trying to put her own stamp on it for her girls. The answer is C beaten with a large race car track.

    Worst World Series team ever?

The Cardinals have five guys who were All-Stars as recently as last season. They have the best hitter in the game -- by a mile -- and the reigning Cy Young winner, and two other borderline Hall of Famers. They've been to the playoffs six of the last seven years, the World Series in 2004 and two games short of the World Series in 2005.

    People have some short memories.

The Tigers beat the Yankees and they became insanely overrated. It's amusing to see. They're good. They're not invincible.

The NFL payrolls are virtually the same, so you can take your intellectual dishonesty elsewhere.

Take a look at the teams that most consistently make the MLB playoffs and you will see that teams that spend the most Yankees,Cardinals and Astros made it the most times. Secondly teams that have won it once Arizona, Chicago, Boston, Angels ( of Los Angeles/Anaheim) and OK twice the Marlins all spent considerable money when they went to the playoffs. If you don't spend money in MLB your chances of making the playoffs are slim.

Virtually the same? There was a nearly $40 million difference between the no. 1 Seahawks and the no. 32 Titans last year. That's not a very tight cap there.

There were 20 baseball teams between $60 million and $103 million this year. Discount the Yankees and Red Sox, who operate by different rules and AGAIN did not win the World Series this year. And among the eight teams with payrolls below $60 million were a pre-season favorite to at least reach the playoffs (Indians), a popular darkhorse (Brewers), a team that spent much of the season in first place (Diamondbacks), a former World Series champ that's in full-blown, self-generated rebuilding mode (Marlins) and four completely inept teams that will always suck regardless of payroll (Royals, Pirates, Rockies and Devil Rays).

There's PLENTY of opportunity to compete in the middle and lower rungs of MLB payrolls.

Very curious to see if the Super Bowl in February has teams from the middle of the payroll pack in it.

Edit: Bad news, Columbo. The fact another moron, Indiansnetwork, has jumped to your side in the debate does not bode well for your argument. (not calling you a moron, just Indiansnetwork and that two-bit guy who thankfully hasn't been around much lately)
