There is speculation now that Rush faked the whole thing. Check this out:

I just got off the phone with a good friend who buys/sells ad time for many programs including Rush's show.

It seems Rush 2010 ad rates were to be established by what is known as a "3/30" average for the last month of 2009. In other words the "highest rated three days of December would be averaged and that number would set the ad rates for 2010."

Rush wasn't pleased with the December numbers as of yesterday morning and told his people that he wanted better. They told Rush it was too late in the game, etc.

Rush apparently turned to his staff and said "watch this" -- and turned a scheduled routine trip to the hospital to have two minor procedure (including a hearing check)into a "media event" after he told an operator he was having chest discomfort. They "snuck" Limbaugh out of the hospital after making sure word got out. And so it began.

Today - 12/31 -- Rush's radio network will be the only source providing exclusive updates of "Rush's condition." radio ads for today's show are selling like heroin.

Rush has just doubled the ad rates he can charge for the first quarter of 2010 and has also placed all the attention on himself, etc.

Would anyone put this sort of thing past him? I wouldn't.

I'm sure it's true. I also heard from a trusted friend that Snerdley hit him with a 9-iron during a commercial.

Was that on Furman Bisher's site?

If that's true, he's an even bigger piece of shit than we thought. I didn't think that was possible. Maybe we should start calling him Rush Limbo: How low can he go?

It's on a website, so it must be true!

C'mon, fish. I don't think he was even on the air this week. He was in Hawaii.
