Stand-up performance by Sergio in the press conference. British press tried its damnest to hang Faldo and Garcia did his level best to put the blame where it belonged, on the players, and he pointed to his own lackluster effort in the process.

As someone who was at Valhalla and saw my share of over-the-top behavior, Westwood has a point. It had nothing to do with the outcome of the match, but the difference in golf galleries between the U.S. and the British Isles isn't even close. I'll take the Brits every time.

Notice how the last two times they Euros lost, they whined (or did they whinge?) about the crowds. When they win, especially in Europe, it's just the lads having a laugh.

Here's my personal gift to Westwood —

Aren't we supposed to be rebuilding damaged relationships with our European allies?

Is there anything inherently wrong in having a match-play event that allows, or has allowed, Greg Norman, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Retief Goosen, Angel Cabrera, Adam Scott and Stuart Appleby to play?

One of the NBC guys said he was on the course all week and didn't notice anything. Funny how Westwood waits until it's over to bring this up. Or should I say bring it up and then NOT talk about it? He throws it out there and then won't say what happened. Sort of robs him of some credibility, no?

I've had to deal with Westwood a few times. He's pretty much of a dick. He needs to get some serious p.r. lessons from guys like Harrington, Poulter, Darren Clarke and Paul Casey. Perhaps Westwood does believe he's the heir apparent to Monty in more ways than one.

The Tiger argument is stupid shit for the most part. Dumbest fucking things I've heard this week. Yeah it's his fault his supposed "great" teammates couldn't handle Monty, Garcia or god forbid Philip Price.

However, there is something to his appearance revving up the European side. With Tiger on the course the prevailing thought is "I have to bring my A+ game...and then double it," so the Europeans play out of their ass because they know that Tiger is on the other side.

Without Tiger the Euros were favored for the first time I can remember and they didn't perform well as favorites. Without Tiger around to gear them up, they didn't bring their best stuff. I think they relaxed, didn't put their foot on the gas early like they had been doing and not surprisingly the American side wasn't going to lose in the singles. They have become dominant in Ryder play by playing as the underdog, they couldn't do it as the favorite. They didn't have the same motivation and it showed down the line with the exception of Poulter.

Complained about Weekley's antics after day one, said he was getting pretty close to the line.

And how is he going to say something during the event, when in all likelehood he'll just get it worse from them the next day?

To Weekley's credit he toned it down a bit even though he said he wouldn't.

The road team should embrace the silliness. This event is taken WAY too seriously, it should actually be fun. The guys should really thrive on being booed for a weekend.

It looked to me as though they were trying, especially when they made answering putts that got the U.S. crowds excited.

And the booing is normally fine. It's the other stuff that comes out of people's mouths that causes the problems.
