What if kids change their minds, or find out they don't have the aptitude for one track and want to try another?

That is probably more than anyone in the NFL benches, but it is still more than 500 lbs from the world record. Think you may need a little more evidence to say he is on steroids.

Probably more Instagram, but the larger issue is texting. Sorry, there are other ways to give them what they can do on a cell phone without opening up that problem.

No one needs a cellphone to learn in high school.
We put men on the fucking moon without cellphones in schools.

If any of you have had to try and deal with large groups of teens in an educational setting lately, you know just what a pain in the ass "technology" really is. They're not learning a damn thing from their phone use, besides stupid videos, stupid comments ("my phone be dry af") and what bae is up to.

That being said, the SRO should have definitely used a dolly to roll her ass out of that classroom without touching her.

Yes. Kind of a little messed up where some adults can't have cell phones at certain jobs, yet it's OK for kids to have them at school.

    This is so true.

I'd like to know what this girl was looking at/doing on her phone that she just couldn't possibly stop it? What was the point of her refusal(s) to get off it, other than outright disrespect?

This incident was bad, and looks worse. But she caused it; there's no denying it. I'm sorry but you don't live a vacuum, where what YOU do doesn't matter, but what others do does, to the detriment of them, and not you. You know, personal responsibility and respect and all that...

The end result of this sad, stupid situation?

SRO loses his job. Shouldn't have happened, but was bound to. Oh, and girl/parents (probably) win a couple of million dollars out of a lawsuit. Shouldn't happen.

I don't think ThomsonONE's post, or mine quoting it, needs any translation. ThomsonONE's post wasn't racist, at all. It was cryptic, and it was correct, too. This incident is a perfect illustration of at least part of the answer to your questions on the other thread regarding the differences in the general success levels in the U.S. of Asians and African-Americans.

Your idea of "enthusiastically" backing up somebody, and mine, are very different. You should stop trying to read me, because you obviously can't.

My prevailing sense all through that Asians/African-Americans thread, and this one, has been one of sadness.

And, you'll remember that, in the Asians/African-Americans/success thread, I suggested that a major factor in success/the lack thereof pertained to respect -- for education, for knowledge, for authority. You know, exactly the issues that caused the sorry situation being discussed in this current thread.

I didn't want to get involved, but this opinion is so moronic, I couldn't help it.

Who the hell is saying the girl wasn't in the wrong?

This entire issue is about degree. Did the cop have reason to remove this girl from the class? Sure. Did he have reason to use force to that degree? Fuck. No.

This idea of, "she caused it, so she deserves what she gets" is batshit.

If you think that response--from a man of that stature toward a teenaged girl--is warranted, I'm not sure you should be allowed to be around children.
