Meanwhile, there's brand new arena in KC that has no tenant.

To be fair, that was a largely cosmetic change, knocking out football seating and improving the existing seating areas. It also Disneyfied the outfield.

Angel Stadium is the fourth oldest stadium in MLB, behind Wrigley, Fenway and Dodger Stadium, I believe. It's got structural issues. A chunk of concrete broke off not long ago. Arte has said he's going to ask for some improvements, but nothing big, and he's not looking for a new stadium. Seems reasonable.

That does seem fair enough if chunks of concrete really are falling off.

I promise you as primary tenant the Ducks have complete control over all events in the arena and get the huge majority of all revenues from all events (which will include the basketball games).

That has been the standard non-negotiable blackmail-demand laundry list of all NBA/NHL teams for well on 20 years now.

City owns the arena. It is managed by a company called Anaheim Arena Management, which is owned by Henry Samueli.

AEG, the same company that controls the Staples Center, runs the Sprint Center. The Sprint Center is turning a profit without a major franchise. Any franchise would demand control of those profits.

Seems like K.C. won't have a team for a while.

I'm sure the NBA and NHL are just itching to go back to a city where they failed before.

    Imagine that.

The NHL went back to Atlanta, which already had the distinction of being the only American city to lose a team to Canada.....and may soon repeat that dubious accomplishment.

Yeah, but it also went back to Denver, which seems to be working out.

True, but at least there was always some kind of positive hockey interest in Denver. The NHL only went back to Atlanta because it's such a huge TV market and because of Ted Turner's money.
