Once the newness of the franchise wears off, they'd better be winning or begin looking for a new city.

The Norfolk-Virginia Beach area has a larger population than any number of NBA cities (Look it up, but Memphis, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, you get the picture). And if the Maloofs have brain one, which they don't, they'll rename the team the Squires.

And bring back Larry Brown - who played for the Squires - as the coach ....

    But of course.

    But of course.

As soon as we slash all our state aid to actual humanoids so we can funnel the money up to Comcast. One of the Job Creators.

Light rail or no, why put it the furthest possible distance away from Norfolk, Portsmouth and the rest of Hampton Roads?

Who cares as long as you can shovel a few hundred million bucks of tax money up into the pockets of Comcast and the Maloofs (or the suckers they unload the team upon) ??

Even if the vote passes for light rail can some of the money be used for the arena?

Norfolk's been talking about building an NBA/NHL-level arena for at least 20 years. Nothing ever comes of it. Too much internal fighting and they can never coalesce around a proper location for it. Virginia Beach has a lot more open land. It's a pain in the ass to get their from Hampton/Newport News no matter where they put it on the Southside. Chesapeake is a harder sell even though it's more central because nobody outside Virginia has heard of it. So the Beach makes sense, though I'm a bit surprised they didn't try to aim for the Town Center area where they're trying to create a downtown out of thin ground.
