I forget which Barry brother it was but one of them was getting knocked around in a game and the player said "I can't stand your dad." And the Barry brother said "Neither can I."

I'm probably paraphrasing but it's a funny story.

How much cash did BYH pony up to name an arena after his dick?

Seattle seems like a more realistic destination for the Kings than Virginia. As for NHL possibilities (assuming it ever plays again), do the Canucks claim Seattle as part of their territory?

    Hans,

It's bizarre. Although there are a substantial number of hockey fans in the Seattle area, there's very little media coverage (although most can get the Vancouver TV stations on the cable system) of the Canucks. When I worked there, I would try to get as much in our paper as I could.

Fox Sports Northwest (now ROOT) never acquired broadcast rights for ANY NHL team, so you had to have the Center Ice package to watch the games (exception of Hockey Night games on the CBC Vancouver station). It's very hard to find Canucks merchandise in retail stores.

It's funny, seems like there's a lot more Seahawks/Mariners/Sonics (in their day) buzz in BC than Canucks buzz in Washington, although I'd see car flags and bumper stickers with some frequency.

No, the Canucks would welcome it.

That name makes Power Balance Pavilion sound downright distinguished.

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Maloofs are selling the team to a group that will relocate the Kings to Seattle.

And the obligatory team source denies story from the Sacramento Bee:
    http://www.sacbee.com/2013/01/09/5102688/kings-decline-comment-on-rumored.html

Also on said page is story saying Virginia Beach is throwing in the towel. That said, Seattle makes so much more sense than Virginia Beach. Can't find a link to Woj's story, but apparently they'll play at Key Arena until Seattle's new digs are built.
