Link shows nada. But even if a local buyer did emerge, do they have enough cash to satisfy the Maloofs, who are in deep doodo financially? And, you've still got the arena problem as well.

    There isn't any arena problem.

Arco Arena or whateverthefuck they are calling it is still a perfectly serviceable arena. The problem is it doesn't quite have all the platinum-plated diamond-encrusted bells and whistles the overlords of industry desire these days.

The solution to the "problem" is the same solution to the "problem" you or I might face if we want to buy shiny new faucets for our kitchen sinks or a glittering new teevee for the living room (OR, if we want a new house): we dig down into our own goddamn pockets and we pay for it our own goddamn selves.

    Yeah, THIS.

The Kings are virtually certainly a nicely profitable NBA franchise on normal operations (as almost all of them are) but it just so happens the Maloofs have so thoroughly fucked up the rest of their financial empire that they particularly need a cash infusion of something like half a billion bucks, so they figure the easiest way to get it is to either fuck the Sacto taxpayers out of a new arena along with the PSLs and luxury boxes they think they could sell along with it, or else fob the franchise off on some other idiots for the dough.

Anaheim tried and tried. Donald Sterling was offered a lease with guaranteed profit, and lots of it. He was even offered a helipad so he wouldn't have to fight traffic from L.A.

Sterling said no. He does not want to play anywhere except L.A. He is not leaving Staples, and AEG isn't going to give up those guaranteed dates when the Clippers finally are winning.

Seems like AEG would be gambling that Sterling actually intends to keep paying for an actual NBA roster long term.

  8. There is also a reasonable deal for the Maloofs to get a new arena on the table. I assume any new owners can get that deal as all.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The company that owns the Palms Casino Resort said Friday it will pay $1 million in fines after employees of casino nightclubs accepted payments to supply prostitutes, cocaine and pain pills in a series of stings last year.

Sounds like a typical Wednesday in the CC, NV.
