Wow, ESPN made a good personnel move with football coverage. Hell hath frozen over.

  2. Re: ESPN cuts Salisbury loose

So who will ESPN use to go on the air and tell their lead NFL analyst that he doesn't know anything about the NFL?

It's just a matter of time...

"Call 1900SALISBURY for my latest picks! Guaranteed winner for Monday Night's Game! I'M 12-2 AGAINST THE SPREAD! CALL NOW!"

He was retained by Caesars Vegas (heaven knows why) to hold weekly NFL
seminars in the book. He picked winners, but never referred to the spread.
The coward's way out (and any other public handicapper who chooses to play this way is no less guilty . . . ) . . . and why are we not surprised?

I thought he was just a benchwarmer.

If memory serves, he was third string with the Colts in 1987.

Somewhere in Seattle, John Clayton is pouring himself a glass of cognac and lighting up a cigar.

Life is now good for the Cryptkeeper.

Good news for ESPN, great news for the NFL viewer.

My favorite quote from this story?
""I'd grown tired of being punished for not being an NFL superstar. Analysts who don't work as hard as me, don't prepare as hard as me, and don't have my resume were making more than me just because of their ability to throw or catch a football.

"Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the opportunity ESPN gave me, but they had capped my ceiling. There was only so far I could go there."
Yeah, right. Salisbury and his junk come off as spoiled brats.
How'd this kind of move work out for Trev Alberts, by the way?

Did Alberts wind up @ CSTV?

Those duties now fall soley on the shoulders of Mark Schlereth. No word yet as to whether or not Skip Bayless will extend his role as ESPN's senior know-nothing analyst to pick up some of the pathetic void left by the Salisbury steak.

I can't be the only one who was constantly annoyed by his use of the run-on sentence.

    Right?
