Yep; and I'd add "women should have the same freedoms as men" and "non-believers should not be killed for their so-called heresy" to the list.

I think it's one of those things that if you had been able to talk the owner into letting you take a look around, you'd feel like you were big stuff. But if you barge in there with 100 other media members and hangers-on, you feel like a turd who has to do it or risk getting chewed out by the editor.

Front page headline of the dead tree LA Times:

    "Terrorism not ruled out"

    Okay, thanks for that.

Look, I get that you hate conservatives, and that makes you hate America to some degree, and allows you to draw a false equivalency between America, and our values, and other countries that don't share them, but your comment is bullshit.

America, and other Western nations largely believe in the following:

    - Free and fair elections
    - Representative democracy
    - A free press
    - freedom to worship as you please, including the right to not worship at all
    - separation between Church and State
    - the right to assemble
    - The right to a fair trial, including lawyer, and right to confront your accuser
    - Equal rights for women. This includes the right to an education, the right to travel without your father or husband's permission. It means your word is equal to a man's in a court of law. It includes the right to vote, and run for office. It includes the right to drive, to go out in public, to socialize with men you aren't married to. It means a woman won't be forced into an arranged marriage, won't be forced to be a child bride, won't be forced to wear a veil, or other clothes to cover her hair/face/body, and won't be forced to marry her rapist to avoid shaming her family.
    - We believe in providing kids with a diverse education, and not one that is purely religious
    - We believe in free speech, including the right to criticize or political and religious leaders

Many Muslims coming here reject these values, and especially do not want their wives or children (daughters) to enjoy them.

And, even where Americans disagree on social issues, we mostly respect these differences.

A Pakistani-American girl just threw her newborn out of a window in the hopes of preventing her parents from finding out she had pre-marital sex/was pregnant. She did this out of fear of her parents reaction, which may well have included violence against her.

Most of us would not advocate violence against a child who had premarital relations, or who was gay, or who chose to abandon the religion of his/her parents.

These values are very different than what we see in Muslim majority nations. And, unless we know that Muslim immigrants embrace our values, we should be very careful about letting them live here, attend school here, and/or become citizens.

I haven't seen any pictures of the wife yet.

The media got his driver's license picture pretty quickly. Should we assume therefore, since they didn't get hers, that she does not have a driver's license, or state issue non-driver ID?

Nothing here about stoning daughters/sisters/female cousins after being raped. I'm a little unclear on the differences between the two cultures. Can you help me figure it out?

Well, yeah, that's if they refuse to marry the rapist. If she agrees to that, there may be no need to stone her to death.

I can't believe people are still questioning how we vet people that come here.

We specifically as folks on the Visa application if they seek to engage in terrorist activities while here:

Do you seek to engage in terrorist activities while in the United States or have you ever engaged in terrorist activities? NO

Have you ever or do you intend to provide financial assistance or other support to terrorists or terrorist organizations? NO

Are you a member or representative of a terrorist organization? NO

Have you ever ordered, incited, committed, assisted, or otherwise participated in genocide? NO

Have you ever committed, ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in torture? NO

Have you committed, ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in extrajudicial killings, political killings, or other acts of violence? NO

Have you, while serving as a government official, been responsible for or directly carried out, at any time, particularly severe violations of religious freedom? NO

Better to support pedophilia, violent misogyny and religious fanaticism than Republicans. #liberalism

Plus, while the culture you're tacitly supporting is abhorrent, it's preferable than being looked down upon at the next cocktail party.
