Chuck, a drop in ratings doesn't mean a sport is dying. It might mean that people don't like the league, but that doesn't mean the sport as a whole is dying.

I mean the NHL gets some shit ass rating, but hockey is growing as a youth sport in the states.

  3. I said that you keep glossing over the fact that the World Series ratings are 25 percent higher than the NBA Finals.

Yes, I think more kids play baseball than basketball.

I think this, because I have never heard of or been to a town that does not have tee ball or Little League or Babe Ruth or Pony Ball or VFW Ball or Ripken Ball or Legion Ball or high school ball or amateur ball or semi-pro ball or minor league ball or some form of organized baseball for kids.

There are multitudes of organized leagues for little kids to play baseball in all the way across the nation that have been operating for decades. Millions upon millions of kids sign up for them and play some form of baseball every year.

Basketball has AAU and... (I honestly don't know. If there are more national organizations, by all means, enlighten me)

Like I said, I agree with you on the fact that ratings dosn't mean kids aren't playing the game.
But it does kill the whole "baseball's better than ever" stuff right?

    a) More kids play soccer than baseball OR basketball. It doesn't mean anything about either sport's popularity at its highest level.

    b) No. Nothing's goddamn dying. Baseball's been through two world wars, segregation, Westward expansion, suburban expansion, Tampa Bay Devil Rays expansion, free agency, player strikes and owner lockouts, collusion, the Federal League, the Mexican League, the Continental League, a cancelled World Series, a fixed World Series, the introduction of radio ("it's going to destroy the game!"), TV ("this one's really going to destroy the game!") and the Internet ("i mean it this time!) ... baseball's not going to fucking die. Seriously. Put your hammer and nails down; there is no coffin. There never was.

    No, Chuck, it doesn't.

Ratings for everything are down. There are more channels.

Since reading comprehension is escaping you tonight, for whatever reason, I'm going to repost what BYH said. I'd like to point out that at no point did he say baseball is "better than ever."

  9. For the next three months, we will be deluged with Little League calls and Little League parents complaining about why we don't cover little Jimmy's games.

I don't believe we've ever received a call about youth basketball.

But Zeke, you can't just go by organized sports. You do know there is are playgrounds/gyms were kids go and play without unis right?
Come on now Zeke. You honestly think that there are more kids playing baseball than basketball?

He didn't mention it there. Im pretty sure he mentioned it in a previous thread. I'm sure he'd admit it if you asked him too.

Chuck, stuff it already, OK. We get it. You don't like baseball. Really, we understand. Now take the fanboy shit elsewhere.

I like you, but this is really damned annoying.
