Saw The Dark Knight last night...

Ok. Please allow me to speak for every rationale human being on this message board.

I will now review The Dark Knight in four words:

    Best. Summer Movie. Ever.

9.9/10, as close to a perfect comic book-film adaptation as I have ever seen.

Iron Man and Indiana Jones can eat a dick.

Oh, and Ledger deserves every award he's eligible for.

Can I just say how much fun movies can be when: folks dress up as the Joker and Batman, there are teenagers next to you with coke bottles oozing bourbon aroma, you literally move to the edge of your seat and jump at least three times, everyone claps before the movie begins, during the movie and at movie's end, it's the opening night and you got tickets to a sold-out theatre, the only seat(s) you can find are orphan 2-seaters and singles and oh, in the very front, and finally, when your stomach is in knots because you're excited and the room's electricity spreads like wildfire.

    Damn good movie.

And so sad Mr. Ledger is no longer with us.

    I'm in awe.

Saw it tonight. That movie is going to obliterate Iron Man. NOTHING will come close to this for the rest of the year. NOTHING.

    This movie was amazing.

And Ledger? My god, he makes Hannibal Lector seem normal. The Oscar's his.

There were people in my movie cheering afterwards, some clapping.

Damn, and I'm still 35 hours away from seeing this.

Got tickets for the 7:30 showing tonight. Can't wait. Even the wife, who I couldn't get to watch Batman Begins on cable last night, has been wanting to see it. I intend to get there around 6:45 to make sure we get two seats together.
For those that have seen it, do I need to stick around through the credits? Anything cool there at the end?

No, there's nothing. Though, at what I guessed was the three-minute mark there was a little Heath RIP mention.

I am one tired mofo, back at work this morning after making the midnight showing.
I had pretty high expectations, just about anything less than perfect would have been a disappointment.
    No disappointment here.
The movie probably won't get its due come awards time. Sad in a way. If you take off the suit and make Batman a crusading cop against gangsters, you'd probably be hearing comparisons to Godfather II. But you won't.
As a nerd, and not to give away spoilers, but when Aaron Eckhart says as Harvey Dent that you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. That just blew me away.
My only quibble, I understand the need for PG-13, but they clearly held back to keep it there. In a way, I wish they hadn't.

I totally agree Jay. It easily could've been rated R. Easily.

Hopefully seeing it today at 5:30 at some small local theater. The Trans-Lux didn't offer midnight showings and I believe is going to be full of high schoolers. Kinda want to drive to Denver to see it Imax style... ahhh

I was worried about that at mine too, as well as being surrounded by dorks dressed up in costume, but the douche factor in my theater was pretty low. I was relieved.

I read that last part in some reviews as well. Damn ratings system.

Like you, I'm going into this with incredibly high expectations. I wish I didn't know as much as I already do about Harvey Dent. I have a feeling my wife, who knows nothing about comics, is going to enjoy that part of the story more than I will because I have an idea what is coming.
