Expect 70-75 million in BO gross today.

Upwards of 160 for the weekend.

400-500 when it's all done - the first time.

This movie will be in second run theaters until Christmas. I expect a re-release then with the intent of going for Titanic and all of the awards there are to win.

When's it gonna be on HBO? That's when I'll probably see it.

Just got back from seeing it. I went in with really high expectations since the Batman Begins is one of my favorite movies of the recent past. It didn't disappoint at all, just an amazing film. I wanted to see it again as soon as it ended. And yea, Ledger's performance was definitely Oscar worthy and probably my favorite villain portrayal of all-time.

    me, too.

little man shockey saw a midnight show and says it was "awesome. better than 'batman begins.' ledger was incredible." he can't wait so see it again.

he just left for the yankees game. rough summer for him thus far.

and let me add to the outrage over someone bringing their 3-year-old to this flick. geez louise.

It was simply amazing. I want to see it again, and I haven't seen a movie multiple times in a theater since Sith.

And yea, that movie was so inappropriate for a 3-year-old, and I'm not sure I'd have brought his brother (around 7) either. Sometimes, you just need to pay for a sitter or rent the cartoon.

In regards to terrible parenting decisions.....

I went to see Saw II when it opened in theaters. The "parents" in front of me not only brought what looked like an 11-year old girl, but her five-year old brother, three-year old sister and a newborn.

    Yeah.

    Top that.

    I nearly left.

What a fantastic movie. I just got back and finally read this thread...I'd stayed away, so nothing was blown for me.

It was a better action movie than the first, but I still prefer Batman Begins...strictly because I thought it was awesome to learn how Batman evolved. For pure Batman, though, this was the movie.

Ledger was amazing...watching his portrayal, knowing he was dead gave me goosebumps.

I don't have a single fuss with this movie. Amazing work by everyone involved...it "felt" the way a blockbuster is supposed to feel.

Even better than I thought it was going to be. A must-see. It's lengthy, but never drags and the action is spread out well. Maggie G is an upgrade over Katie and Aaron Eckhart was top-notch.

Ledger was stunning. All the hype was warrented. He's getting an Oscar nom.

    "Best superhero movie EVER!!!!!!!"

"Heath ledger should get an OSCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    Etc.

Not quite, on both. Ledger was excellent, and really made the Joker his own. But Bale, Eckhart, Caine, Freeman, Oldman, etc. were equally good in their roles. To me, they were all great in the service of a wonderful script and storyline written by people who clearly have an understanding of the comics that are widely acknowledged to be the best depictions of Batman and his world. Harvey's story arc was well done. I would have liked to see more of the whole "Little Batmen" storyline. Or was that "Sons of the Batman?"

"The sons of the Batman do not talk. We act. Let Gotham's criminals beware. They are about to enter hell."

    :D :D :D :D

Also would have like to see more "scary as hell" Joker rather than "funny joker." When he showed up on screen, everyone laughed at everything he did, like people did when Samuel l. Jackson shows up as the piano player in Kill Bill. They EXPECT it to be funny, so they laugh as if it is. One young lady had a "Pow!" t-shirt on. I wanted the Joker to do something REALLY shocking, just to jolt the crowd into realizing that this dude was a psycho killer. Something like . . .shoot a bystander character in the face, or unload on a crowd of kids. Some random slaughter of innocents to justify all the pre-release hype about how "SCARY!!!!!!!!!!" this Joker is. Something that just raised the stakes to total chaos. Never truly happened. Had that hospital still been full . . . .

I guess I just wanted a shock. That "Oh F$#%!!!!" moment that I kept anticipating, to no avail. Sorry, but torturing underworld characters just didn't do it for me, even if those scenes were well done. But I know that my sadistic mind has different expectations than the mainstream audience, and I'm good with that.

The climax was a little comic booky with the whole sonar thing. But it was clever.

Gyllenhaal did her best with the only predictable role . . .just about everything they did with her was a romance/love triangle cliche. I also wouldn't have minded more of a resolution at the end, but something tells me they wrote that with the idea of having another Joker movie.

As for superhero movies, it's certainly in the upper echelon. But for me, "It was DARK!!!!!!!!" doesn't necessarily make a great superhero film. I want to see a movie that is true to the characters, first and foremost, though a few tweaks are always welcome. And like the original Superman, Batman begins, Spider-Man, X-Men 2, Sin City and Iron man, this movie achieved that, with great skill.
