Saw The Dark Knight last night...

It's not showing at an IMAX within like two hours of me. And no, Arnold, very few movies look as good on the small screen.

I disagree on this one though. To me, the movie screen was too big. It spread everything out, and during the moments of action, it was hard to follow on a screen that big because there was too much happening everywhere.

Some of Batman Begins was like that, too. I remember reading about this when that movie was in production, that they had even chosen a fighting style for Batman that was more brutal and efficient, but might not show up on screen as well as some of the stuff we normally see in movies. The chaotic fight scenes are part of the more realistic feel of these movies.

I know that bothers some people. It's a funny comparison, but I heard the same complaints about Transformers, though I didn't really have a problem with with the chaos in that movie, either.

Saw it last night. Ledger was great and I don't think they could have casted a better Joker, all things considered.

I was blown away by how good this movie was. But, the 10-year-old ain't get to go.

Seconded. The first half wouldn't load for some reason and I only had time to watch a little bit of it, but the chase scene with the "surprise" ending is definitely worth multiple viewings.

    Finally saw it.

Best movie I've seen in probably about 10 years.

The Oscar is Ledger's. It better at least be nominated for Best Picture.

Just saw it. I'm obviously in the minority, but found it incredibly boring. I looked at my watch a dozen times the last hour and nearly fell asleep twice. Ledger was good, I'll give him that, but hardly worth the $7. And looking at Maggie Gylenhall is just flat-out painful.

  9. Wow. You are in the minority.
    Different strokes, I guess...

You are the first person I have talked to or read from who's seen it to say that. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, just saying you're the first I've heard say that.

I love a good action movie and have a ton in my collection. But I have never been able to give into the whole superhero genre. I realize the appeal of these stories is their thoughtfulness, depth and complexity. On that score, "The Dark Knight," a very skillfully made film, probably scores very high. But I just don't get into that stuff, hence my watch-watching boredom.

And of all the action sequences and supposed graphic violence ... yawn. Been there, seen that. When you've sat through "Hostel" and "Saw" and just about any Dario Argento movie, the celebrated "pencil scene" wasn't anything or note. I thought the violence in TDK was tame at best.

I watched a show on the History Channel, examining the psychology of Batman, that was more interesting. And it didn't cost $7.

  12. I saw the film twice. I plan to buy the DVD as soon as it's out.
I think Ledger's performance alone is worth the cost.
