As a whole, I'll agree with you that the film wasn't perfect and it wasn't a 10/10 or anything like that. It had it's flaws.

But I dare say you can not name me one character or one actor in any one of those movies--hell in the last decade that left as large an impression as Ledger did.

There's a reason he's getting Oscar buzz. He turned a legendary comic book character into the standard by which all movie villians will be measured for years to come.

Like I said, Ledger was awesome. I have no problem with him. However, I do think it's a bit shortsighted to say he's gonna be the standard movie villains are measured against for years to come.

After all, as you said, it's a comic book character. To call a comic book character "legendary" is a little oxymoronic, isn't it? Maybe that's just my preference for non-fantasy coming through.

One movie villain every bit as menacing as Ledger's Joker: Alonzo Harris, Training Day, as played by Denzel Washington. Washington's performance as Harris is more impressive to me because the character could exist in real life. There's not gonna be a criminal like The Joker in real life.

For that matter, the Frank Lucas character in American Gangster is on the same level as The Joker. Again because he's more real. And as far as performances in general, DiCaprio's in The Departed is just as good as Ledger's. That's not taking anything away from Ledger. That's pointing out how good he was as The Joker.

Gyllenhaal was miscast. She's an amazing actress, probably one of the best young actresses working, and she was about 1,000X better than Katie Holmes, but she was miscast. To be fair, nobody jumps out at me, as who would be better.

Everybody else was spot on. Bale is a robot, but that's why he's good in this role.

I guess Catwoman is the main villain in the next film. I wonder who they should cast. Since they're not going to go with Halle Berry or Michelle Pfeiffer, who gets that role?

Please just don't let it be Jessica Alba. Beautiful woman, but damn, she's a terrible actress.

Angelina Jolie would be a solid choice ... she can pull off the ass-kicking, sultry persona needed rather easily, though it would be pretty much the same as her character in Mr. and Mrs. Smith or Wanted.

    An underdog? Rosario Dawson.

Nolan would never, ever pick Alba. Jolie would be perfect.

I can't think of anyone else who could pull it off.

My 11-year-old said "How long was that movie? 3 hours? It seemed really long."

I liked it a lot, but the ending with Two-Face was a drag and a letdown.

I wouldn't mind Jolie or Dawson. I doubt they would even consider Alba.

    Michelle Rodriguez, Rosie Perez

I need someone who can roll a good R and also as a tinge of menace if need be.....

Maybe Annette Bening and Nicole Kidman can get their second shot at playing Catwoman. If memory serves, both had to drop out (Bening from Batman II) and Kidman from Catwoman when they got pregnant.

I know, both are probably too old now...

They're saying Jolie is the first choice, Charlize Theron is the second and Eva Green is the third.

Can't argue with any of them.

I'm not positive, but I think Theron was the first choice to play the Katie Holmes part in Batman Begins.

Hell, why not Eartha Kitt then?

  12. 1) Say what you want about other villains of recent years, but I can't remember one I wanted to see back on the screen nearly as much I was wanted Ledger back up there with the clown makeup. It is a mesmerizing performance.

    2) I'd imagine whoever they pick as Catwoman will be beautiful and a great actress. She'll have to be. That puts Alba out. I have no idea who they take, but who would have ever guessed Ledger as the Joker?
