Screaming baby at ski resort -- who's right and who's wrong?

    Doc - Is their any other way to look at Colorado ski resort professional conferences other than
    as vehicle for creating a tax deductible ski vacation?

    Ski resort conferences, if reputable, have lectures from 7-930a and again from 4-7p daily yielding 5-6 hours of lectures a day. This is equivalent to the 9-12 and 1-4 schedule in a less outdoorsy place.

    Plus tHere are some great conferences in wilderness medicine that use the outdoors as a training ground and are ideally suited to being held in the mountains.

    Location plays a part in people attending, but if your employer is paying for your trip, you better show up for the events.

    But if you are paying for it, you can spend the time however you want.

    You also seem to be making a case for a flat national tax rate without deductions.
