Shawon Dunston, Kevin Elster and Dale Sveum played for the '97 Pirates. That's how f-ing long ago that was.

Also, to be clear, the 1997 Pirates kind of sucked:

Of that roster, Kendall was near all-star level quality, but he unfortunately got hurt shortly after that and never was the same kind of player. The rest of that lineup, except for Jose Guillen (good regular for a bunch of years, headcase) reads like a who's who of overpaid average players - Kevin Young, Tony Womack, Al Martin, Joe Randa. The pitching stuff was a decent assembling of average. To me, they look like another overperforming but usually bad team that had a year of good in a sea of misery - The 2000 Royals, who managed to stick in first for a couple months: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/KCR/2000.shtml

I heartily agree with those who touted what a great stadium PNC Park is. I went there on a road trip in 2003 during which a friend and I hit six baseball stadiums and PNC was the best (slightly ahead of Jacobs Field). Wonderful ballpark and well worth the nine-hour drive for sgreenwell.

Hot woman: OOP, I just gave you the greatest orgasm you'll ever have! And I want to do it over and over again!

OOP: Yeah, that's cool, but some porn star in L.A. is getting it even more. He's got a bigger cock, too, so he has an unfair advantage in pulling more ass than I do. It's an unfair system, so I put an asterisk next to this ecstasy.

JUST FUCKING ENJOY THE RIDE! :D

True statements, but they also were in first place in late July if not at the All-Star break and easily the best Pirates team of the past 18 years. Also, if I remember correctly a lot of people were high on the Pirates pitching prospects with Schmidt, Loaiza, Cordova all being young arms and Kris Benson on the way in the minors...at least I remember being hopeful that summer.

Funny stuff. Still doesn't change the fact that people are drawing conclusions they shouldn't be trying to draw after a good half season.

Oh, I know. Believe me, as a former Ogden employee, I know. Which is why I've been so hesitant to get on board with the current team.

Yeah, but why the obsession with pissing on the parade?

Just stating my opinion that the parade is very premature.

The Bucs lost 105 games last year, when they became the first time in MLB history to lose 90 or more games six straight seasons, and when they became the first MLB, NFL, NBA or NHL team to post 18 consecutive losing seasons.

So, no, the parade is not premature. It's not wrong to enjoy a parade as it happens in real time as opposed to waiting until the end to decide how you were supposed to feel when it was happening in real time.

Speaking of which, I am enjoying the Brewers parade into first place tonight. :D
