    Re: Sean Taylor: shooting victim

The current story posted on ESPN contains this paragraph:

"Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house at the time, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured."

That makes it sound like Taylor was the target.

Anyway, I remember when James Jordan was murdered and people assumed Michael's gambling had something to do with it. No question we should be careful with our conclusions, but if I was covering this story, I would be wondering if Taylor's history had something to do with it.

Your question was a lousy one. We're not hiring a babysitter, we're talking about someone who's a victim of a violent crime. Even people who have a spotty past can be victims. It sounds like someone made him a target, but to speculate on anything more than that might be rushing to judgment.

No proof he brought it on himself, but as my favorite TV detective said, "You play in the dirt, you get dirty."

They go to the bedroom, he's shot in the groin, and Sen has a machete for protection?
This story is gonna get really good next few days.
    This was no burglary.

Sounds like something Briscoe might say, too.

Jack McCoy already would have this guy convicted by now if he were handling the case.
