Very sad to hear the news. I saw it on ESPN's crawl and just shook my head for a solid minute. Thoughts to family and friends.

The Yankees played a night game the day of Munson's funeral, flying back from Ohio to do it. One of the most emotional games I've ever seen. Bobby Murcer drove in the winning run, hours after delivering the eulogy. The YES network shows it several times a year.

The cut phone line and the shot to the femoral artery were meant to guarantee he'd bleed to death before help could be summoned. Good thing the girl used her cell; a damn shame they couldn't get there in time.

    This was a hit.

Nice try there fb.... NO hitman in the world would shoot you in the leg hoping to hit the femoral artery.

Boy, that's a monumental leap you're making, FB, unless you know a whole lot more than any of us.

The phone lines being cut is pretty old school, don't you think?
Who these days doesn't have their cell within grabbing distance at all times?

Really, if you look into it, the University of Miami players or former players have been involved in incidents where they died or came close so many times, it is incredible to ponder.

Heck, former Taylor teammate Portis himself was involved in a car crash where he was airlifted when he went to UM, I believe.

The girlfriend surviving and being able to possibly ID someone continues to baffle me.

I don't know about a hit, but it sure feels like it's someone who knew Taylor intimately.

Damn this news sucks. I feel for the kid who will grow up without a father. RIP.

I have no idea because that was way before my time, but was the reason that players were too grief-stricken, or because he thought it was wrong to play just days after a national tragedy? I don't see this as the same as Kennedy because players/teammates are directly affected by Taylor's death.

Ballscribe, cutting the phone lines is a means of disabling a security system. Which is exactly why such systems are worthless. Any criminal worth his salt knows this.
