clueless, as of now. Wednesday will probably be for detoxing/getting used to the West Coast (nearest I've been is either Louisville or New Orleans, depending on which one's farther west), but I'll probably be up for something by the evening, since the flight comes in at noon PDT. Then everyone starts piling in Thursday, and it'll be breaking loose in Tuscaloosa.

My only priorities in Seattle are drinking as much coffee as humanly possible, hangin' with the SJ peeps and seeing my friend from high school who lives there.

I would like to wander the fish market and do some good local shopping, i.e. not see the same stores I can see in my hometown. Bookstore would fall into that category.

I'm afraid of heights, I'm not a hiker and I imagine that I'll be cold most of the time.

Props for alerting us to Ebbets Field Flannels, Bw.

I won't be leaving Seattle without a Decatur Commies shirt.

I'll bring you a jacket, girlie. I'm not hiking. Mountains are out of my comfort range for hiking right now. I haven't even been able to get out and do basic hikes yet this year with all the damned surgery I've had.

Stands for Commodores, of course, but don't tell McCarthy that.

I have a ridiculous amount of Ebbets Field Flannels stuff. Up until a few years ago, their warehouse was here, and once a year they would blow out their leftovers to a really small group on a mailing list.

At like 7 a.m., 50 guys would be lined up to get into this place, and when they opened the doors it was like one of those half-price wedding gown sales you see on the news. Jerseys they'd sell for $300 in the catalog would be $30-40, cool minor league T-shirts (the Undertakers, Convicts and Boogers are my favorites) three for $10. Throwback hockey stuff by the ton. I think buckweaver would probably have had a heart attack on the spot. I'd spend $300 and walk out with a new wardrobe.

They moved the warehouse to NY a few years ago and had to clear out everything. It was like the annual sale times 10. By the third day they were selling $350 jerseys for $5 -- at that price you could buy them and use them as cleaning towels. At the time I couldn't believe much stuff I bought, but if I could go back I'd buy at least twice as much.

At the MLB draft last week they did this convoluted thing where each team "drafted" a Negro leagues player. The team I cover took a guy from the 1946 Chicago American Giants. I was like, "Oh, I have that jersey."

I also have a complete New York Knights uniform from EFF (No. 9, natch), with a "Wonderbat" I got in Cooperstown. Jealous? :)

Easily walkable, just the other side of Qwest and in a neighborhood (Pioneer Square) that's worth going to anyway. Not sure what their inventory is -- the store is fairly small -- but you'll love it.

Outstanding, thanks. I'll be sure to check it out Friday afternoon.

Anybody have any ideas on when/where we're planning to meet for dinner before the game? I was thinking somewhere in Pioneer Square would be good, that way we're already close to Safeco ...

(And on a selfish note, I don't know when the rest of y'all want to get in the gates, but I, for one, would like to have some time during BP to explore, which means an ideal dinner time would be like 4-6 p.m. That's ideal for me, anyway. Thoughts?)

I'm with Buck on getting there early to watch BP. Ladies, this is prime to to watch Ichiro stretch.

Also, it goes without saying that everyone going to the game will want to take warm clothes. Even with the roof closed, it's still an open-air stadium, just covered. So if it's 45 and rainy, with the roof closed it'll just be 45. And layers are the best way to go, since everyone's big coats are stowed for the summer. Fleece is considered formal wear in Seattle.
