Can one do Pike's and the EMP in one afternoon without too much hassle?

Depends on how much time you want to spend at both. I imagine you can probably take up your entire afternoon at the EMP if you want to.

Might be better to split 'em up.

A random comment: should the title of this thread change? T-minus 36 hours is more like it.

Many thanks to Joe, SC and AB for getting all this together. I'm psyched for the long weekend!

I want to go to Pike's Place but could skip the Space Needle and the Hendrix thing in favor of shopping.

I'm also meeting up with a high school friend (the lesbian go-go dancer :) ) at some point, and she may have good downtown shopping insight to share.

You guys have to stop calling it Pike's or people will stare at you funny. It's the Pike Place Market. :)

(And don't bring an umbrella. Only tourists use umbrellas in Seattle. The natives just get wet and understand that it will dry.)

Pallister, the market likely won't take you more than an hour or so. You might want to combine it with a trip down the stairway from there to the waterfront. Lots of good stuff there.

The EMP can take a long time depending on how much you want to do. I went once, by myself, and was there until they kicked me out when they were closing.

Does that take place quite often?

In fairness to the EMP, Arnold really shouldn't have brought the sleeping bag. And the tent was way over the top.

heading to the airport in 45 minutes. If all goes as planned, I will be in seattle at noon PDT (3 pm normal time).

    God help us, everyone.

Thanks for beating me to it, AB. Seriously, folks, there is no apostrophe-s in the Market. :)

I'm excited...you all will be here very soon! Less than 36 hours till hanging out with Serve, then I get to meet many of you wonderfully crazy folk that night. (IJAG and SC, I didn't get a clubbing shirt, so I may just hang out with the laidback/non-dancing folks)

And I got suckered into work Saturday morning (don't ask - but I'll bring my laptop with me if I don't finish before I want to get on the road), so I'll probably skip Friday night...but I'm down for shopping/sights Friday-day (joe and co, I think Rainier is still too snowy - seriously, it snowed Monday there! - for my pansy hiking self. I'm out.).

Saturday, I'll be in town by a decent time (IJAG, I can probably meet you and the tatt crew at the hotel by 1130ish if you want to do that first...let me know) for the tatt/etc field trip - I'm dragging those folks to see the Fremont Troll (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2236) briefly - and then for AB's party. I'm out for Sunday (folks live in Seattle, so since it's dad's day...).

    Soon!
