Camden, N.J., is lovely at no point in the year. Even if it were, don't go there without a police escort.

    But the wedding's in May.

Omar, Cape Cod might be a good place for you. Presuming the wedding is before Memorial Day, that means you'd be heading there right before tourist season. I'd also say mid-coast Maine, up by Bangor and Mount Desert Island. Both are day trips to Boston -- the Cape is much closer, though.

Take a $20 boat ride to St. John

And stay for about $225 a night in your own private villa.

The wife and I did our honeymoon there in May, and it was amazing.

Pros: 80 percent of the island is a state park, so it is essentially untouched. We would drive to beaches that were empty. It is pristine to say the least. You must snorkel. Plan to spend a lot of time doing this... and other things. Rum is cheaper than milk. Most times once you leave the main boat area, you will feel like you and your wife are with only 12-15 other people on the island. It is paradise.

Cons: No golf. Limited shopping. Thus the undeveloped nature. You must rent a car for about $350 per week. You are out of the gulf stream so the local fare dining wise is not what the OBX would give you. There are two local markets where you can shop and then grill later at the villa.

So 2K for the place to stay and car. 800 for the tickets. 600 for mad money.

There is your perfect honeymoon for less than 4k.

Devil, wish I had $4,000 lying around for a honeymoon. I'd guess most folks here don't.

Lake Lure, NC, is nice in May. I'm a sucker for God's Country, the High Country of NC, around Boone/Banner Elk. If you're wanting to go to a quite beach place, try Ocracoke Island in NC, or Sunset Beach, NC.

True, he may be getting into the Bush clan or something.

The wife and I were also marrying on the beach, so that cost us 2K, but saved us thousands in the long run since we didn't have the formal band, flowers, food, etc...

NJ or Delaware? I have to ask because you can't hear pronunciations on a message board.
    It's New-erk, NJ and New-ark, Del.

  12. How 'bout Whitewater rafting in Southern West Virginia? There are a lot of really nice, quaint bed and breakfasts around and the rafting in May-June kicks ass!
Many outfitters also offer horseback riding, rock climbing etc. There are all sorts of outdoor activities. And Fayetteville, home of the New River Gorge Bridge and the hub of the rafting industry, has been rated one of the best little travel destinations in the country.
    Great atmosphere and outstanding food!
    Perfect for a long weekend.
If you are interested, PM and I'll give any help I can.
