I agree. That was the part that made me cringe..... like the audience thought this was all a joke. Maybe Richards went on too soon. I had to watch the blowup on YouTube before I watched the apology. Both were rather frightening.

Oddly enough, at the press conference at the Laugh Factory earlier in the day when they announced that Richards was banned, a Black security guard spoke and twice referred to himself as "Afro-American." It wouldn't surprise me if that's where Richards got it, because I hadn't heard it in years, either.

One thing I'm curious about: a lot of people have talked about his rage on stage. How many of you have seen the footage full-screen on a TV, as opposed to on a computer? His facial expression is much clearer when you see it on TV, and to me it looks like a guy who, at the very least, is pretending to do schtick. It didn't look like uncontrolled rage to me, and it was much, much harder to tell that on the small computer video. That's why I'm inclined to think he was trying to get back at a heckler by being as offensive as humanly possible, as opposed to snapping and revealing some deep-seeded racism. Either way, he richly deserves the shitstorm coming his way.

All right, I'm watching Seinfeld. And I just keep waiting for Kramer to start dropping N-Bombs.

I didn't think it'd affect the way I view this show. But it does. All I can see is Richards' rant.

    Couldn't be more wrong ...

Season 7 sales up 75 percent over Season 6 and 90 percent over Season 5.

Yeah, looking at those numbers, I'd say it's safe to assume his outburst didn't hurt business. As for why Season 7 is doing so much better than the last two, I think there are a few factors to consider:

    - They haven't released a season in a year. They had been doing it every six months.

    - Sales around Christmas time are probably a lot better than the seasons released in May, which explains the marked improvement over Season 5 (which, if I'm not mistaken, came out in May '05).

    - And (to a lesser degree) sales have probably been helped by the fact that Season 7 has the Soup Nazi episode, which is arguably the most famous episode of the series (although fans of The Contest would disagree, I'm sure).
