Mighty Gophers looking quite impressive in a win over UCLA. B1G goes 6-1 with Wisconsin the only loser.

Chapman had 12 seasons in the league, some of which were riddled with injury. But the time spent in the Association speaks for itself. He's likely very financially secure because of it, too. He averaged, Wiki says, about 14 points in his pro career.
He was the bomb at Kentucky, for sure.
Says he hit for 39 points twice as a pro, ending his career around 1999-2000, and working some front office gigs.

Maybe someday the Big Ten can reach the level of the vaunted Mountain West.

    Dare to dream ...

He was definitely a role player, and not a superstar, in the NBA. Hit a tremendous shot while falling out of bounds once to either win or tie a playoff game against Seattle, which was probably his most memorable moment.

I remember him more from having a card in the NBA Hoops series that was worth about 35 cents and made him seem like a good player.

How hot does JTIII's seat get with the Hoyas?

His team are very, very good in the regular season. He's been to a Final Four. But their last six seasons tourney-wise are down-right awful for any power conference program, let alone one with Georgetown's history.

Meanwhile, my alma mater gets a smidgen of cred back for the Mountain West in beating Oklahoma, and now they play a 15 seed instead of a 2 seed. Dare to dream, Aztec fan.

Inept job by the NCAA in planning the schedule in Austin. Friday's afternoon games end just a few minutes before 6 p.m., and the night session is scheduled to start at 6:27 (later bumped back to 6:40). At 6:30, doors to the arena still aren't open as they've obviously trying to clear the arena of the afternoon crowd and do some cleaning, which never happened. A major cluster____ for those in attendance, and I'm sure it didn't look good on TV to have the Florida game get started in an arena that was about 5 percent full.

This is hilariously false. There is at least a dunk per night in the NBA better than that.

Better in terms of ooh/ahh factor? Without a doubt. Better in terms of execution, situation, emotion, etc.? I doubt it. That wasn't a showboat dunk. That was a mean something dunk. A No. 15 is trying to hold on against a No. 2. Play scared? Hell no - eat this!

So you're right and we're right. Depends upon how you view it. Dunk of the year to me.

Here we go, just from last night. The execution on this is better, especially since there's a defender in the way, and the situation was a Jazz team that's fighting for its playoff life playing a tight game in the 4th quarter:
    .

That was a fun dunk in the FGCU game, but not best of this basketball season.

On another note, my rule of not picking teams that have trouble scoring more than 55 points to go far has served me well so far. Still have 14/16 left and all of my Elite Eight teams.

Citing the superior execution of a play in the NBA compared to college is unfair and irrelevant. No NBA regular season game is comparable in importance to those involved as the tournament, not by a factor of about 1000. Dial switching during commercials last night, I watched several brief parts of the Celts-Mavs game. It was infinitely better in terms of basketball art, and who cares?
An absolutely essential personal life chore today will prevent me from watching the one game I wanted to see most -- VCU-Michigan. I have a major sad.

It's not just the NCAA - it's also CBS/TBS/TNT/truTV who set the schedules for the games without thought of convenience to arena staff.
