Harrumph. Harrumph. All these young whipper-snappers taking shots with more than 5 seconds on the shot clock. Harrumph.

Agreed. Then again, we'd need to have some good finishes for that to even be possible.

Shaka had absolutely no chance against a coach with Spider and Golden Griffin bloodlines. :D

John Beilein is one of my favorites of all the coaches I've dealt with over the years. I just wish he'd picked someone else's alma mater to shithouse. And this is a massive shithousing

Hoping that Michigan goes into a full-court press against VCU after how Akron was humiliated the other night. Basketball karma is a bitch.

In my defense, I said it was a snap judgment based on seeing the teams play. I saw VCU play Butler. I watched Michigan late in the year when it was stumbling.

I'm honestly surprised at the Big Ten's impressiveness so far.

There's a common denominator with the teams that beat VCU this season and Michigan was - by far - the best of the bunch. The team that played VCU today can win a championship.

Shit happens. If an uptempo team runs into another uptempo team with more raw talent which is on its game, things get out of hand.

Just like if a sludgeball team runs into a team that controls the boards and hits its free throws, they lose 49-32.

Just as much of an ass kicking.

Yep. Teams with elite guard play who can handle dealing with the press are tough outs for VCU. Saw it with La Salle in Richmond. Michigan's guards are better than La Salle's, ergo ... I hated to see VCU get that draw, because I knew they had little shot of beating the Wolverines.

Yes, if your guards can handle VCU's pressure, you can win. It also helps to get them out of their gym, where they feed off a very energized crowd, and get to play a much more physical, hands-on on defense with less fear of being called for fouls.

I get all that. But if you just saw the resume, I think a lot of people would be like -- how does that guy still have his job?

    In chronological order:

    Did not make it
    Sweet 16
    Final Four
    Did not make it
Lost round of 32 (as a 2 to a 10) Did that as Big East Champ
    Lost first round (as a 3 to a 14)
Lost first round (as a 6 to an 11)
Lost round of 32 (as a 3 to an 11)
Lost first round (as a 2 to a 15) Did that as Big East Champ

Two tourney wins in six years since that final four. And you were a 2 twice and a three twice?
