He works in Washington DC., so he's well, well down the line when people ask, "How does that guy still have his job?"

Also, Mod, whoever is running the Twitter for your old shop's sports department is coming off as ridiculously homerish today. The tweets sound like they should be coming from the VCU student paper, not the TD.

They're on my feed but haven't noticed. Not sure who handles that there now.

    A quick sampling:

Now that #VCU is out of it, will you be watching the rest of the tournament? #letsgovcu #havoc

Anyone tired of hearing about Mitch McGary yet? And he's only a freshman. #letsgovcu #havoc

Michigan may call it maize, but we call it gold. #letsgovcu #havoc

A Final Four appearance buys you about 10 years of goodwill. Unless you're at, say, Kentucky. Even so, Calipari is in no trouble.

I'm still wondering why our first weekend of the tournament is all-BIG so far?

Why discuss John Thompson III when we can talk about Mike Brey? He might be the biggest NCAA tournament underachiever ever, including Norm Stewart. Brey is 285-142 at Notre Dame, with a 6-9 NCAA tournament record. In the past decade, the Fighting Irish are 2-6 in the NCAA tournament without reaching the Sweet 16. Five of those six losses were to lower-seeded opponents.

There could be a thread devoted to SID homerism. One of them (who I like personally) is headed to the Big East from a certain conference I know well.

georgetown is a basketball school, a signature NCAA program since the founding of the Big East. they have 4 final 4 appearances. Their 3 finals appearances in a row include one of the great upsets, Villanova , and Michael Jordan's championship. Big John made Gtown the most polarizing University in the country and this is his son, followed in his footsteps at his school, albeit with a calmer attitude.

Brey is another coach at big name school with low, relatively, expectations. ND is a Football school and a basketball afterthought.

That's not the SID. That's the sports feed of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. But I can see how you'd make that mistake.

They were one of my Final Four picks. Thanks for rubbing it in. :(
