He didn't. Did you read the SI article? Didn't paint a good picture and weren't there some problem recruits this year?

Gregg Marshall was very deliberate about what he took after the success he had at Winthrop. Don't forget he took the CofC job for a day or so before changing his mind. Wichita is a good job. Great building. Hell, he's in the sweet 16 in what he called a rebuilding year. I don't think he'll jump for the first major-conference gig available. Not saying he wouldn't consider UCLA, but he won't just go just to go.

Yeah, a couple of recruiting issues, no doubt. Took a chance on a couple of people. Still, it's not they're going 6-20 every year.

Love Craft's reaction after hitting the 3. That's cool.

I remember about 10 years ago, I did a story on Gonzaga coach Mark Few, who was a hot commodity at the time (Zags had just lost to Arizona in 2OT in the NCAAs in Salt Lake City). Few was linked to openings at Kansas, Illinois and a couple of Pac-10 schools, among others. Most people figured it was only a matter of time before he would leave for a bigger paying major conference school.

Their SID told me (off the record) that he thought it was only 50/50 that he would leave, that he and his family really liked the school and the city. Strangely enough, he turned down a lot of other possibilities and stayed at Gonzaga.

Nowadays, when a coach stays at Butler, VCU, Wichita State, it isn't such a shock. Don't know if those schools pay what a BCS conference school can pay, but I guess it's enough.

I love when he says, "Yeah, those are my friends hitting on your friends." And he's plenty cute enough for her.

Thinking she leaves him at the bar and meets up with the woman in the Infiniti F1 commercial

Coach's wife by a mile. With those teeth, Blind Date Chick looks like she comes from the Elway line.

Any coach, like Smart, who buys into the uptempo high-pressure philosophy knows that every couple of years if you match up with a team with significantly more talent than you, which is on its game and can handle the pace, you're probably gonna lose by 30. That's the calculated risk you take.

Doesn't make it any more fun when it happens, but it happens.

Verne and Raftery are like two old cronies sitting at the bar, drinking vodka/tonics, and they happen to have a headset on and there's a basketball game in front of them.

    Love listening to them.
