If you're a No. 1 recruit, you could foreseeably also score 30 ppg at SD State, or FL GC. Something you will never see at UNC or KU.

Yeah, I mean Michael Jordan and Paul Pierce only averaged 20 a game at those schools. They probably spend their days wondering "if only I had gone to Miami or Arizona State..."

I'm sure a lot of top prospects will still go to those schools and think that way. I was just wondering why seemingly NONE of the top recruits choose schools in cool locations, except for the random ones that go to UNLV.

Perhaps you have a different idea of what is a cool location than most good basketball players.

Maybe Kentucky has gotten more than their share of the top recruits the past few years, but if you bothered to take a look at Rivals Top 150 or any of the other major recruiting rankings you could see that the top recruits, whether you define that as Top 10, 20, 30, 50 or whatever, have chosen a wide variety of schools all over the country.

In recent years there have been top recruits choose schools such as Iona, North Texas, Providence, Central Michigan, Mississippi State, bunches of them who have chosen to play in Waco, Texas, for Christ's sake. And you question guys choosing North Carolina? You can't be for real.

I'm just saying, if you're say Jabari Parker, how do you NOT play at Florida Gulf Coast?

Back in the day, Miami football was able to use their location to get a buttload of good recruits.

Most of whom were attending high school in the same area code and weren't exactly Stanford material.

The biggest factor for basketball recruits is the coach. If everybody's main concern was living near strips of sand and two-peace swim suits Myrtle Beach would have Chicago's population. Why don't Calipari, Williams and Self take jobs at FGCU, Florida Atlantic and Florida International?

Not sure, but why do you think Florida, FL-GC and Miami are all in the Sweet 16, other than saying it's just a coincidence.

Kansas, Wichita State, Michigan and Michigan State are all in the Sweet 16 too. What's your point?
