so looking at the rest of the Sweet 16, are you saying people are clamoring to live on the beaches in East Lansing, Bloomington, Ann Arbor, Columbus, Philly, Wichita, Milwaukee, Syracuse, Eugene, Durham, Lawrence, Louisville or Tuscon? (I'll give you Gainsville, the chicks there are SLAMMIN')

Not at all. I'm just saying in a country with most of the area away from ocean, you've got three beach towns (nearly 20 percent) in the Sweet 16.

A state with less than 1 percent of the US population has nearly 13 percent of the Sweet 16. Recruits must love wheat fields and cattle.

And that has nothing to do with it. Absolutely nothing.

Why doesn't Florida have three teams in the Sweet 16 every year. Or seven?

Florida has a top coach in Billy Donovan. Miami was fortunate to get Jim Larranaga to take that program higher. And Andy Enfield is making his mark right now.

It's the coaches. Coaches build the programs. Everyone but you knows that, Kato.

True. But don't you think the location can help, at least a little bit? I guarantee you it's part of Enfield's recruiting pitch. Stuff they can't sell at Kansas State.

If location was so important, Pepperdine would be the dominant college team in America.

Facilities, chance to play on TV and in the NBA and relationship with the person recruiting you are the biggest factors for the top players.

    A couple of things:

*WHO. WHO go to UNLV. People are who, not that. If you are a working journalist, you should know that.

*You need to stop posting so much. I'll give you a chance to do it voluntarily.

So nobody could see Florida Gulf Coast coming? This isn't just a low-major who got some lucky breaks for a couple games. They ran the #2 seed out of the building and destroyed a team from one of the (RPI) best conferences in the country.

This team is practically in Dick Vitale's back yard.

Watching Gulf Coast has been a refreshing change from the trend that I think plagues college basketball and that is the teams that play each offensive possession till the end of 35 sec clock. Did some quick research and see that in 2001 most teams were showing offensive possession numbers in the high 70's. Now you are seeing numbers in the low to mid 60's . ( Duke in 2001 was averaging 77 possession and in 2013 average 65.)

Interesting to contrast with college football where the pace has picked up. Teams that used to average 60 offensive plays are now running 85-90 plays in a no huddle system.

Florida Gulf Coast is playing the most exciting ball since Loyola Marymount.
