Another good example. It absolutely drives me psychotic to see a team up 3 with 10 seconds to go start fouling. FUCK THAT. You're up 3, guard the 3. Gives no sense of faith in your defensive ability.

My gripe with the No. 5 vs. No. 12 is when it's a major conference team holding that No. 12 spot. It's kind of crappy as a No. 5 seed to draw a team that just won its conference tournament. I'm sure Oklahoma State, UNLV and Wisconsin were saying WTF? when they saw their draws this year. I don't think anyone was that surprised by the outcomes of any of those games.

The Fab Five also comes to mind. Donovan's Florida team that went back-to-back kind of was like that a little bit too...

Start calling intentional fouls in those situations and you make the game eminently more watchable. I'd be perfectly happy to see it both ways, but yeah, that whole fouling up 3 thing is particularly invited to DIAF.

I was just flipping through last week's SI which had these nuggets from SI's analytics expert.

Florida has the best chance to win the tournament at 11.7 percent, based on SI's rankings.

Mississippi has the highest percentage to beat a No. 12 seed, at 43.0 percent, Oregon was at 42.1 percent and Cal was 41.5 percent. VCU was 38.9 percent.

They also said that FGCU had the best chance as a No. 15 seed to beat a No. 2 at 23.6 percent.

The numbers show that it's a much better decision to foul up three, and under five seconds, than to let the other team get a shot off. As a viewer, it sucks, but it's the smart coaching strategy.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, they showed his cousin Micki, who filled out her bracket on the air last week had picked Florida Gulf Coast to make the Sweet 16.

They also said she was in last place in the office pool. :D

Someone told me that only one person in ESPN's pool picked FGCU to make the Sweet 16. I find that a little difficult to believe because with that many entries there is probably someone who picked NC A&T to win.

Don't understand this command. Seems awfully selective in an open forum.

It's sink or swim here. The stupids hang themselves and leave on their own.

First one is the fencer, second one is the Bud Light girl.

Aside from the abomination that is the first four games in Dayton, the schedule works nicely with Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday games. Adding two days is awkward, but, of course, common sense has nothing to do with anything. If TV could find a way to sell it and if the NCAA thought they could sell enough tickets, the tournament would be double elimination.

NOT fouling up three with < 10 seconds left is ridiculously stupid. So is, for that matter, going for a two down four with 30 seconds or less left.

If you're up three, the only way you can lose, short of missing free throws or some crazy offensive rebound, is by giving up a trey. So why would you allow them to shoot one? Just foul, make your free throws and win the game.

If you're down four, a two just makes it a two-point game. Since most teams are in the double bonus by that time, the opposition is likely to get two foul shots. If it only makes one, it's likely to just foul you and prevent you from a chance to tie the game. By that point you need a 3.
