Gotta to love Lon and a couple of these gems from his stint as a AD:

(On the women's basketball team)... "They're a good group of little hustlers"

(On the eligibility status of a certain women's basketball player)"We're keeping a breast of the situation"

I never knew he was an AD. He was an interesting guy to deal with.

"this FGCU team is right out of Cinderella central casting"

Really? The wealthy coach with the hot wife, and the athletic team that dunks over everyone? That's "Cinderella central casting"?

    Dana O'Neil = Awful.

Eh, that's probably how Hollywood would portray it whether it was true or not. I doubt they are casting Roseanne Barr as the coach's wife and I think there was a lot more dunking in Glory Road than you actually saw in 1960s college basketball.

I rather prefer to think of the FGCU team as the centerpiece of the plot of Carl Hiassen's next novel. The school, the coach, the team, it's all pure Florida.

What else? Maybe the NCAAs should become an open tournament and have a slot for 4 amatuer teams that play in regional qualifying matches, like the US Open in golf and tennis.

That way Brit Griner and her team can try and compete as well as a bunch of playground superstars. That would be Cinderella, handing Calipari or Kryzyeski their respective asses as a bunch of playground fools kick their tight controlled asses.

    Actually, it's spelled T-i-m D-o-r-s-e-y.

Serge Storms as an adjunct professor of Florida history. Coleman teaching horticulture on the beach.

    I like it.

You note that one but not the complete butchering of "Krzyzewski" by heyabbott?

Didn't see it. I'll try harder. :) ... Although Hiaasen is a bigger god to me anyway.
