So does Southern Illinois have any shot at making it after losing to Creighton this weekend?
They should be in just so we can listen to announcers have to say "Falker" 100 times uncomfortably. Their coach WAS the MVC coach of the year...let em in!

Do they have any shot? You're seriously asking if the No. 13 team in this week's AP poll will get a bid? Seriously?

I'm intrigued by their non-conference sked. They beat some good teams, and some teams that beat some even better teams. I'm not sure how far out of 2nd or 3rd they were in the CAA, but they have a resume that's as good as a lot of other potential at-large teams. And if the committee looks at specific teams and not how many from each conference they're taking, there's a shot.

I think it was collegerpi.com or Joe Lunardi's Bracketology or bracketography that had Drexel playing another Big East team in the first round - Louisville.

Of the 31 brackets compared by The Bracket Project (http://bracketproject.atspace.com/comparison.htm), 20 had Drexel in the Big Dance (one 10 seed, one 11 seed, a whole bunch of 12s and a few 13s).

I love that site, but they need to weed out some of the sketchier brackets. Like the one that has Winthrop as a 5 or the one that had ODU in as a 3 or 4 but not UVa. at all. As awesome as that last one would be.

    VCU 16-2
    ODU 15-3
    Hofstra 14-4
    Drexel 13-5

Going to be tough to overcome five league losses in a mid-major.

I completely agree they should be an at-large. Thirteen road wins, wins over Syracuse and Villanova and Creighton, all on the road...this is a legitmate tournament team that has done everything a mid-major is supposed to do in an OOC. But now the committee can punish Drexel for losing in conference.

That's the beauty of the Selection Committee: Its criteria is quite fluid.

I have a hunch they won't. Nothing to back it up. I think they'll be rewarded for those wins. Don't forget they also beat Vermont, coached by the rising Mike Lonergan, who won at Boston College this year.

I haven't followed Southern Illinois much this year. Although I saw they did beat Creighton twice this year already, but lost to em in the MVC championship.
I'm in Big Sky country where you get your 1 bid and be happy you got it. I dunno how much the sway the MVC has...
But if they're ranked 13th I'll suspect they'll get in. That loss to Evansville doesn't look too great, but it happens I guess.

Good point. Nevada could attempt to get into games at nuetral sites like Gonzaga does or go on the road. Though, I also wonder if North Carolina or Texas would really want to play Nevada anywhere because it wouldn't count as a quality win the way a win over Gonzaga would.

To put it more specifically, SIU likely will be either a No. 3 seed or 4 seed. No worse than 5th.

Yeah, some of those brackets are ridiculous.
For example, the Warren Nolan bracket has WSU as an 8 seed and the MRI Sports bracket has WSU as a 12 seed.
    Good stuff right there.
The No. 2 team in the PAC-10 should certainly be a No. 12 seed.

I'm not saying that all of the site's bracketologists are completely sane - no no no - but it is useful.

I think it was Feature Presentation that had Louisville and Arizona meeting in the first round (which, IIRC, is an impossibility since they played during the regular season at MSG in New York).
