Sorry, but only Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Vandy are probably going to the NCAA Tournament from the SEC. The only way anyone else from the SEC lands a bid would be if they advance to the semis this week.

That Bama-Kentucky game probably means nothing to the selection committee.

It sucks that we are assuming a team like Drexel is going to be the one booted, but not a shitty big-six team like Purdue, or Illinois, or West Virginia, or Kansas State. I have not looked it up, but I would bet Drexel might have more road wins than all those teams COMBINED.

Anyone with a couple of minutes want to help a guy out?

I figured K-State was already out. As for the other three, they still have conference tournaments left. If they flame out in the first round, then Drexel/ODU moves back up ... unless someone else gets in that nobody expects.

I don't have the numbers, but I would say you're pretty close. I know Illinois didn't win too many road games (I would have to look this up, but I think they might have played three games outside the state in the nonconference schedule, the rest were at home or on "neutral" courts in the Chicago area), and Purdue, I think, only won one or two road games.

Of the Big Ten, only Ohio State, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan State should get bids right now. Illinois and Purdue are on the bubble, and frankly, I don't think their resumes stack up to some of the other schools going for at-large bids.

Didn't Drexel win 14 games on the road? that's damn impressive

Drexel has 13 road wins, including victories at Syracuse, Villanova, Vermont and Creighton.
K-State has seven road wins, including victories at Texas and USC. Only lost by four at Texas A&M.
Illinois has won five road games, the best being at Bradley.
West Virginia has won four games, the best being at Seton Hall.
Purdue has one road win, at Oklahoma way back on Nov. 21.

Suddenly, I'm liking K-State's chances a little more than I did before looking up those road wins. The Wildcats are far from solid, but should they win one game this week, they probably ought to make it.

    The others? Eh.

I'm a Big TEn fan, but if the Big Ten and the SEC get any more than eight bids between them, the fix is in.

It's tough to separate ODU and Drexel. I think it comes down to which team was better in the conference. That's Old Dominion.

Or it could come down to which team has an influence over the committee, like George Mason had last year.

That's what concerns me. If they can't seperate the two, they're more likely to say f 'em to both instead of taking them both.

I don't see that happening. George Mason's Final Four run has earned the CAA some credibility. I'll be very surprised if it doesn't get one at-large bid -- like it did last season.

Didn't feel like quoting the poster on the previous page, but yes, Winthrop will be in as a 12th seed. And Syracuse will be that perturbed No. 5 seed.

And will be packing its bags after the first Thursday/Friday for the third consecutive year.

Syracuse won't be a 5 unless they get hot at the Big East tourney again. Winthrop should be a 10-11. Duke-Winthrop as a 7-10?
