    Oh, I dig that. Would love to see the Dookies sent packing by the stock speculator from "Trading Places."

    Or, since piece of shit Tom O'Connor is on the committee, he goes for the Virginia school instead of the America East refugee.

    Drexel is not getting in. No chance. None.

    I was thinking about that earlier in the bathroom, where I do most of my premium college basketball thinking.

    VCU = UNC-Wilmington, ODU = George Mason, Drexel=Hofstra.

    Maybe it's O'Connor's way of telling the Northeast schools to go back to America East, I dunno. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the CAA to add Florida International, Detroit, Illinois-Chicago and Maine.

    OK. We'll go back to the A-East. We'll take the CAA's relevancy with us.

    Half the CAA teams have joined since 2001. Without the new teams, the CAA would be up shit's creek. Without the new teams, the CAA isn't starting football in a year.

    I can understand fans of the holdovers not liking the new/northeast schools (except Mystery Meat, he's a good, inclusive dude) but an administrator who has it out for the newbies is a fucking fraud. Which is what Tom O'Connell is. A fucking fraud.

    CAA football, man. They originally came up with this brainstorm because the southern A-10 football schools wanted to cut down on travel costs. So what happens? Everyone else joins in and kills the A-10 football conference dead. Effectively this is the third name for the conference in the last 10 years or so. What the hell was wrong with the Yankee Conference (even if three of the football members were in the Cradle of the Confederacy)?

    I got no beef with the northern teams in the CAA. I kinda wish they could have made a better play for Charlotte, and gone after UNC-Greensboro instead of Georgia State, but what can you do?

    I'd always vote for a name change back to the Yankee Conference. Reminds me of when UConn would annually find a way to fritter away a I-AA playoff berth in the final weekend of the year.

    For all the success it's had in all sports, the CAA is pretty much a Calvinball mess. First they were a mid-Atlantic conference. Then they moved up to New York...which is technically part of the mid-Atlantic. Now it goes from Boston to Georgia. It's a logistical mess.

    Who the hell uses Conference USA as a guide for expansion? The CAA, that's who! The fetish now is to get a school in every major city on the East Coast, even if they're a non-entity in that city (hello, Georgia State). Which is why I half-expect them to go after Florida International next.

    Purdue has two road wins over Big Ten powers Penn State and Northwestern. The win against Oklahoma was in Maui.

    Gotta love the MRI Sports bracket. Its No. 4 seeds are Michigan State, Xavier, Davidson and Notre Dame. Southern Illlinois is an 11th seed and Washngton State is a 13. What does MRI stand for, Most Ridiculous Information?

    There's probably two kinds of brackets represented at bracketproject -- those that try to predict what the selection committee will do, and those that try to fill the brackets based on their, uh, unique interpretation of the stats. There's a few (MRI, Colton, a couple others) where it's clearly the latter, since there's no way in hell Winthrop's getting a 5 or Washington State a 13.
