I think those ESPN polls might be a little more interesting if they just give the records (without conferences) SOS and RPI. I'm guess there would be some real differences on what people would pick.

I'd sell my first-born child for Illinois to miss the tournament. If, you know, I had a kid.

    You were saying? :D

  4. Re: Countdown to Selection Sunday thread

You'd sell your first-born child for a lot less than that. :D

Well, it was an accurate statement at the time ...

WVU should have the win, but the fucktards operating the clock waited a full second before starting it.

What will Pukie V do this weekend, now that his beloved Dukies have been sent packing?

Is this the first time Duke's lost on the first day of the ACC tournament since the expansion? I know they beat State in the Les Robinson Invitational the year K missed most of the season with the back. Has it ever happened before tonight?

They were 22 for 23 in ACC Tourney games going back to the late 90's. It was simply an astounding run.

The 1996-97 Duke team lost in the first round of the ACC tournament to N.C. State. That team finished 24-9 and lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Providence. Duke also lost in the first round of the 1995-96 ACC tournament (to Maryland) and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Eastern Michigan.

    Those were the days. :)

But in both those cases they weren't the opening day (8 vs. 9, aka Les Robinson Invitational), were they?

Correct. In 1994-95, the bad-back season, Duke played in the Les Robinson Invitational and beat N.C. State. I guess Krzyzewski needed the expertise of Gaudet about winning on Thursday.
