Bubbler, that's something of a compelling argument ... until you look at Xavier's wins in conference:

Massachusetts. That's it. Quality wins since a Dec. 29 home win over Illinois: Zero. Haven't beaten a top 70 RPI team since the 'Nam.

Drexel was willing to go on the road and pickup non-conf wins ... Xavier went on the road and lost to Cincinnati and St. Louis.

Indiana belongs, barely, based on entire season resume. Illinois, not so much.

Oregon should kill Miami, OH. Ducks won't get trapped in that slowdown game the RedHawks play. Southern Cal basically has to win over Arkansas to cover, and everyone's talking down the Razorbacks. Wisconsin by just 13.5 over that clown team? Makes me think the clown team will cover. Georgia Tech favored over UNLV -- when worse seed is favored, pay attention. VCU +7 over Duke will be a favorite of many. Ohio State giving just 22, very low for a No. 1 seed.

Gut reaction: Vegas to beat, Vandy to cover, Albany to beat, Louisville to cover

The Islanders are good, but I doubt good enough to beat Wiscy. I have Tech perhaps to the sweet 16 in that bracket, so I definitely expect them to beat UNLV. Dook will not lose to VCU, no way.

I'm surprised, given the committee's history of putting together interesting matchups when possible (of course, "accidentally") that 7th-seeded Indiana isn't playing 10th-seeded Texas Tech in the opening round.

Of course, the committee meeting in Indy might just quite figure out that a Hoosier State Civil War would break out should such an event take place. Watching so-called "Indiana fans" root against IU because they're still lap dogs for a certain former coach and refuse to get over an event that happened 7 years ago would have been hilarious (especially if IU won), but it would've caused riots in some sections of south-central Indiana, too.

in about fouryears I think you'll see the Big East football schools break away from the rest of the conference for this very reason.

Maybe I'm missing something, but when did the NIT cut back to 32 teams?

Wasn't it a 40-to-44-team tourney for the last several years?

Did I miss Akron in the NIT? What happened to that POS Dambrot that Toledo is in, but not the Zipper heads?
