umm, I believe Mason lost in the semifinals of last year's CAA Tournament and got an 11 seed despite telling the world their point guard would be suspended for its next game for cracking Loren Stokes in the nads. Just sayin ODU & Drexel have some precedence for hope.

    You missed the sarcasm font.

And as I mentioned, ODU doesn't have an AD on the selection committee.

So I hope ODU goes to the Final Four again in the NIT.

If the consensus on that Web site is correct in its prediction, Duke will have a higher seed (No. 6) in the NCAA tournament than it has in the ACC tournament (No. 7).

How many times has a team earned a higher seed in the NCAA tournament than in its conference tournament? I believe N.C. State probably did since it was a No. 6 seed in the 1983 tournament although I don't remember its ACC tournament seed.

I have a feeling Duke will make a run in the ACC tourney and get a top-4 seed.

I also have a feeling that the state of Virginia will have four teams in the NCAAs, but after the first day, all we'll have to cheer for are Virginia Union and Virginia Wesleyan.

Not a Duke fan in any way, shape or form. That said ...

On Deadline, Duke getting a top six seed means the committee considers the Blue Devils one of the top 24 teams in the nation, not one of the top six.

So it's not that big a stretch that the seventh place team in the ACC could be considered among the top 24 in the country.

I realize that, but it still is rare. Think about it. How many leagues could the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament even earn an NCAA berth.

That's true. Out here in Big 12 country, there's debate about whether even four will get in — and should it happen, the fourth most certainly won't rate a 6 seed.

No way. I agree that they have to at least make the semis to get top-four consideration. I just don't see them making that run, which means they draw anywhere from a No. 5 to a No. 7.

If Nevada gets a 4 with no quality wins, it's a bigger sham than last year when it got a 5. The fact that it's ranked No. 10 in the nation is a complete joke.

The pendulum has swung too far in favor of the little guys.
