The way Barry has been hitting and the way teams have been playing him, it's unpredictable when he'll break it. If I were Bud, I wouldn't pack a bag unless he is sitting on 755 and the games are in San Francisco.

Typical sportsbruh. Even when he has a point (Bonds will be much better remembered than Selig), he adds in his prerequisite stupidity with the shots at Ruth and Aaron.

The true number is 868. That's the number of homers credited to Sadaharu Oh.

If you're going to go that route, wouldn't it be Josh Gibson's 962? (Going with the Negro Leagues HOF number, not Cooperstown.)

You are correct. I'll go with Josh. Sorry Sadaharu.

Did Hank have any home runs with the Indianapolis Clowns? I think he was only there for about six months before he the club got offers from the Braves and Giants.

As numerous people have showed on this board numerous times, nobody currently playing is going to be remembered as a better player than Ruth without some serious improvement.

I hope Selig doesn't show up.

I also hope that when Bonds gets one away, every single pitcher in MLB intentionally walks him every single at bat. No matter what the score is. Doesn't matter if the game is on the line or not. Let the cheater suffer.

Right. Because putting aside the importance of winning or losing games just to keep Bonds from the record wouldn't interfere with the integrity of the game at all. ::)

He cheated. It's his integrity, not his opponents.

    I'm no Bonds fan, but . . .

Any pitcher who would intentionally walk him with the bases loaded in a tie game (or regardless of the score) would immediately descend about 100 floors in my mind, far below Bonds and into the Chick Gandil Wing of baseball bad guys.
