A somewhat educated guess on salary range: high $70s.

It appears that senior editor jobs require relocation to the Bristol HQ. What title do the ESPN editors who work remotely have?

I know two, one who has worked for ESPN for awhile and a relatively recent hire, both sport-specific.

My impression was all editors couldn't work remotely.

They've been hiring blog editors who do get to work remotely.

Those on the news and copy desks work in Bristol.

I know that the contract editors do, but probably not salary employees.

I'm going to guess it's slightly higher than this, depending on experience, of course. But it's not going to be a $110K job either.

You're most certainly right. I just realized how long it's been since I left Bristol. In the past, they were willing to exceed the salary range a bit for the right candidate. Not sure if that's still true.

Do you think they are going after people already working at a website or maybe more newspaper people they convert to web?

Fran, in my experience that doesn't really matter. I came from newspapers, as did most of the people on the desk (only because sports websites weren't that prevalent). But there were some from a web background solely, or at least their most recent jobs.

If you can do the work, they'd love to have you. They don't care where you've been, only where you want to be. Etc. etc. with corny schlock.

    But it really doesn't matter.
