I know I've spoken of the Sound of the South band from Troy University - best pound for pound marching band out there. It's all here (hell, you can even hear the band announcer and the ambient noise is limited). A great band, a lot less robotic than the supposedly superior bands at SC, and in the Big 10. Check out that sax sol0!

Man, you could start a holy war in these parts talking like that, especially now that ancient rival Jacksonville State is transitioning to FBS. JSU’s Marching Southerners are considered the best band in the state, and yes that includes the HBCUs.

September 21st 2019, we're in itta Bena Mississippi playing Mississippi Valley State and their band play September at halftime. Right then and there I said to myself if I've had to spend a Saturday night in this place, I'm using Earth Wind & Fire in the recap. We won 22 to 6 and the first thing I typed was " what Bethune-Cookman will remember about this 21st night of September....". The AD loved it.

Um, thanks for sharing. This is from 2013 when we played Florida State. Game went as expected, but we crushed it. Go to the 4;20 mark.

Stellar ... start off with "In The Stone." Still one of the best openers more than 40 years later.

Thank You for sharing, DD ... continued good thoughts clinically, too.

And since this thread was revived ... top five EWF instrumentals:

    1) "Faces"
    2) "Zanzibar"
    3) "Runnin'"
    4) "Sun Goddess" (with Ramsey Lewis)
    5) "Rock That!"
Honorable Mention: "Sweetback's Theme" ... need to listen to it more ... only one on list I don't have on the shelf.

People still talk about how our band did the War Chant in front of the FSU band at Doak...who needs Jameis Winston..
