    I think he has something like William Perry ("I was big when I was little") had. Barnes was old when he was young.

    Shifting gears to a more somber situation ... the Sun Sentinel's copy editors/designers have been told they'll be kept on until mid-June instead of the original projection of an April 30 layoff. It's a good news/bad news thing -- one one hand, they'll have jobs a bit longer than expected; on the other hand, it means having to stick around longer in a lame-duck, low-morale atmosphere.

    If severance is being handled as in past layoffs and buyouts there, those being terminated will receive two weeks of pay for every year of service, with a cap of 52 weeks pay. At least three of those folks have been with the Sun Sentinel for at least 30 years, so their departures won't come cheap.
