Total agreement. I like strong opinions, as long as they're playing the ball, not the player.

Being a patriot, I try to post using Barney Stinson's philosophy on America:

"Not only are you wrong, but you stubbornly stick to your guns while insulting me in the process. Congratulations, you're an American SJ poster!"

I think this is very true, but you also can't ignore the fact that people had been leaving in droves since well before Jeff bought the site. It's not the same place it was, but as someone already said, communities change. It just seems that many people haven't liked the "new" community so much.

Not everyone who has left has been missed.

I don't think the droves that have left are any bigger than previous droves.

By no means do I blame Jeff for the exodus.

I haven't been here nearly as long as some, but I've taken a bit of a break. Not because of the relatively recent changes, but because I got tired of the constant bullshit.

When I got the Boom news, I told Jeff I really didn't care, largely because I was kinda over the site in general.

When I had nothing to do, it was fun at one time. It's just not that fun for me any more. I have better things to do, and I think that's fine. Doesn't mean I won't peruse on occasion.

Daily life, alas, got busier, so sj, to an extent, had to go by the wayside. And yes, many people that kept me around have moved on. Life happens like that. Still lots of good people here

I am not familiar with all the inner drama of the site but wasn't Boom the ring leader/semi stalker who did his best to antagonize Jones, JGMacG and some others?

I laughed at Boom's trolling but his dogged pursuit to antagonize known writers seemed kind of petty to me. Of course I realize that was quite a while ago and I think Twitter has become an outlet for postings on a lot of message boards but it seems to me he contributed to making this a worse place at times.

Yes he did. If Boom knew a poster was a semi-prominent writer he did all he could to hound them until they left the site.
