    Well one problem is the "left," as many would define it, doesn't have that much power in America.

    Was Hilary Clinton the left? Most people would say Bernie Sanders is even more "left," and he's been a huge NRA backer.

    If the true left ever won seats and built some power, real change might happen.

    Interesting mix in Switzerland. 25% gun ownership. Long history of hunting and shooting sports. Ownership requires permits. Military and militia/reserve keep their service weapons at home, although ammunition is no longer issued to be kept at home and what was in service members homes had to be returned. Military who leave the service are automatically in the reserves until they are 34. After that they may purchase their service weapon and keep it, although no longer in full auto form.

    The fantasies of the gun nuts posted by Dick here show that it is in the interest of public safety that they lose some other liberties besides the right to bear arms.

    I wasn't talking criminal. More like a nice padded cell and many meds for awhile.
