My three progeny went to the UT-KS game in Austin last night, and MommaQuant and I walked to the stadium with them on our way to Scholz's biergarten. Security was both obvious and in abundance. We encountered under-car scanners, bomb-sniffing dogs, and deputies in full armor with prominently displayed assault* rifles. Don't know how long it's been that way ... wasn't when we went to a game three or four years ago.

*I guess that's what they are ... I don't know rifles from kumquats.

So it was okay for you to post something without proper sourcing because it turned out to be right? Funny, that isn't at all consistent with the shit you post here.

Assuming that isn't doctored video from a Moldovan disinformation farm, I await CNN's response, if it makes one.

Pretty bad decision to use that photo for their animation. And it means that some number of people touched this before it aired. Producer, graphic artist, etc. Not like some poor Chyron operator just hit the wrong button in a rush.

Anyway, it illustrates an interesting condition of the gun debate in America: that gun folks require some level of expertise with guns before allowing non-gun folks an opinion.

    Not sure why.

"Paddock bought 1,000 rounds of the .308-caliber and .223-caliber tracer ammunition from a private buyer he met at a Phoenix gun show, a law enforcement official not authorized to comment on the investigation said on condition of anonymity." (Fox News report).

Hmm - yeah, nothing alarming or suspicious about buying 1,000 rounds including tracers .

Should we take seriously people who say things like this?

Go try to find a store where you can buy three AK-47s or three boxes of meds containing ephedrine and tell me which one you find first.

I'm not sure about the tracers, but no, there is nothing alarming or suspicious about buying 1,000 rounds of ammunition. It's often sold by the case or in bulk lots. Both Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops have listings on their web site for cases of 1,000 or 1,200 rounds of .223 ammo, and most physical stores would have large lots for sale as well.

You don't find it necessarily alarming or suspicious because you're "a gun nut" and probably should have your civil fights severely curtailed. [/@Michael_ Gee]
