The speed of the media today is both impressive and a problem. It is amazing that TV can be showing video from phones so quickly and that multiple networks can go to immediate constant coverage. It also hinders getting the true facts because so much information is swirling around that it is almost impossible to comphrehend it all quickly.

One of the networks had a phone interview with a student at VT who basically had nothing to say and wasn't involced, save for bein on campus at the time. She didn't know about the first shooting. She was in class when she got a text about it. She waited with the rest of the class in a locked room several buildings away from the conflict and didn't hear the shooting. It was a wonder that she even got on the air.

Jesus. I can't wrap my head around stuff like this.

I'm def. one that thinks to own a gun, one should have a license. I mean you have to have a liicense to drive a car.

Cars are bigger death machines than guns. Should people who get DUI's be put in jail forever?

First off, STFU!!!! Second, stay on topic. What does this have to do with Islamic terrorists anyway???? An Asian lunatic did this, but at the same time, THE FUCKIN' NRA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS LUNATIC HAVING A GUN IN THE FIRST GOD DAMNED PLACE!!!! THEY MUST BE STOPPED NOW!!!!

I don’t think anyone who disagrees with me is a bad person. I don’t think anyone is celebrating what happened today. I think we all want the same peaceful world and have different views as to how we can get there.

Prayers for the victims, and their families. This is awful.

That's just it. One of the networks had someone on who was the stepfather (?) of one of the Columbine victims... I can understand being a victim, but what do they know about THIS situation?

    Cars kill people.

    Knives kill people.

    Rope kills people.

Come on. Nothing says "sane, reasonable message board poster" like typing in all caps and dropping F-bombs all over the place.

And that thought about Rush and the NRA loving this ... I simply don't understand that. Like, I don't even understand why an idiot would come to that conclusion. No doubt this will spur a major anti-gun campaign, which I'm sure isn't exactly what they want.

Yes for the most part in most states you ARE required to have a license to have a gun, particularly hand guns.

And guess what, lawless, lunatics who are intent on killing people are still going to get illegal guns.

We don't need more gun laws, the gun laws we have are already too restricting.

I guess it's a natural reaction to want to place blame, even before all the facts are laid out.
I wonder how the time of day played into getting the word out. From my understanding, this happened very, very early in the morning. A lot of students may have still been asleep (I know when I was in college, I never scheduled classes before 9 or 10 a.m.).

As for myself, I am gonna refrain from placing blame on anyone else other than the coward who took so many lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, the survivors and all the loved ones affected by today's tragedy.
