I don’t like the NRA, either, but to think they support this kind of behavior is ridiculous. Do we really have to discuss that any more?

Gun control, on the other hand, is a legitimate issue. It shouldn’t take something this tragic to keep that conversation going at all times. We can’t prevent something like this from happening again, but we can make it harder.

I think we need a separate gun debate thread. This one will last for days, maybe weeks, and it's only going to get worse. People like slappy will come here looking for news and info, not shouting matches. It would be good to give them a good reason to read and, perhaps, contribute.

Any one who is going to kill 35 people is not going to worry about going to jail for having an illegal gun. That argument is silly. There are whackos in this world and they snap and when they do, they don't care about the consequences. Again, do you really want to create a black market, or I should say a bigger black market, than there already is?

    Where's the 32 come from? I haven't seen AP in a while.

Much like the illegal immigration issue, we don't need more gun laws. We need to enforce the ones we have. Of course doing that probably wouldn't have stopped this kid. Chances are the gun he used wasn't one he had to purchase in the last few days.

MSNBC said 31 a bit ago. I haven't heard the 32 figure yet.

Wow. They thought shooter was dead and that is why they let them out this morning.

How did they think that they had the shooter after the first wave? I hate to say it, but there will be a very big finger pointed at someone. Lord.

The Rivals.com Virginia Tech site's current headline:

    "Hopkins visits both in-state schools"

    Shameful.

How the hell does someone with two 9mm guns do this much damage?

    Execution style killings?

    Crack-shot?

    Authorities take some collateral damage?

Anyone else see that amateur video? You could hear gun shots - tons of them - and I think you can hear shouting/screaming as well. Almost made me lose my lunch.

    Sad, sad day.

I can only imagine the traffic jam on I-81 from all of the ambulance chasers driving down from New York City and Philadelphia to try and get rich quick by suing everyone that might have a few bucks in their pocket and can be linked to the school, the gun company, the state, the company that put the locks on the doors.....

    What a great country.
