the next time a shooting happens in a city of 30,000 people, I expect the entire municipality to be locked down -- Escape from New York style. No one gets in or out until the perp is in custody and the investigation is complete.

Sound reasonable?

I was trying to be polite. Anyone working in Roanoke or south West Virginia will be doing everything in their power to make sure the hair is perfect and the delivery extra crisp on location.

You also have tv from DC, Richmond, Norfolk, western NC, and eastern Tenn there too, I'm sure. I know all the DC stations are on the scene there.

Uh, BULLSHIT! The one and only time I had a gun pointed at me, I didn't do shit, and that was some crackhead robbing my video store way back when.

There's nothing more annoying -- and in this case downright offensive to the families who lost loved ones -- than the Monday morning hero/dick-swinging cowboy who picks these things apart after the fact. Fuck you asshole.

I should add that asking a question about resistance is fine, but stop there. The aside was one of the most asinine things I've ever heard and though it sounded like a student reporter to me, almost no one in America is going to make that distinction.

High school shooting out this way several years ago, several students charged and tackled the shooter and stopped him before he killed some more. So it can happen.

The aside he added to it was beyond inappropriate and takes away from the impact of simply asking, "Was there resistance?"

Uh, for one the dude has a gun. I have nothing. All he'd have to do is pull the trigger and I'd either be a goner or hurting very badly.

I'm not about to tackle someone who has a gun pointed at me, but that's just me.
