It's probably just the contrarian leftist in me speaking, but I keep feeling like all this attempt to paint Romney as a rich elitist will boomerang and actually help his goal to keep the election focused on the economy and give the idea that he's good at handling it.

Nobody likes Mitt Romney, but he can sometimes convince people that he's competent.

I think the problem Romney's supporters on this thread and in general are having with their pro-Swiss Bank Account arguments is that they are ignoring what the common man in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin and elsewhere will think. Whether it's legal or not, or fundamental tax avoidance policy or not, or good for the American economy or not...to argue that having at any point in the past a bank account offshore won't raise the eyebrows of Joe SixPack is naive.

Clearly, Obama's campaign people aren't naive. And clearly, as evidenced by the "but...but...but" illustrated above, the campaign's ad is effective.

I don't see how its apples and oranges.

We all make choices. The average Joe chooses between an domestically made car, or an import.

Romney makes choices with his money too. Since he has more money, he has more and different choices than you or I.

But, we all act in our self interest. We all look for the best prices, and the best deals.

This entire argument is disingenuous bullshit.

This. The Dems will badly over play this.

Maybe, but the step he'll have to take is to convince people that being good at making millions for yourself and your friends by laying off thousands, bankrupting some companies, and slashing benefits for workers translates to you being able to run an economy to the benefit of millions of working families.

Well, that can't be known for sure until we see the longform birth certificate tax return.

If they didn't lose your vote over the North Carolina gay-marriage cowardice, they've lost it now for sure.

"America, our work will not be easy. The challenges we face require tough choices, and Democrats as well as Republicans will need to cast off the worn-out ideas and politics of the past ..."

So glad we've had a clean break from all of that!

They could. But Romney does enough on his own to let himself be viewed as unrelatable. And I think that's the point -- he simply can't relate to those in lower classes, at least he hasn't shown it. It goes beyond being likeable, it skews his decision making.

It could be problematic if Obama makes a Romney-type gaffe.
