Ooh, I didn't even think of that. He would be a great fit in that city. Blue collar guy for a blue collar town.

Huh? Is that why 7 of the 8 playoff teams this year were different than last year and two of the lowest payrolls in the sport almost squared off in the WS?

Rich get richer -- try the NFL, where New England and Indy can't be beat and there are two winless teams. Talk about disparity.

They should cease whining as well. Nobody, outside of ardent baseball fans, was watching Game 4. Everyone knew what the results were going to be once the two teams took to the field.

At least the A-Rod news gave something to the passive fans.

The Yankees and Red Sox have won eight of the last 12 AL pennants. The NFL disparity is based on teams operating within the same system. The Patriots and Colts are just better than everyone else. Good for them. The Indians faced two teams with a combined payroll advantage of $280 million. The difference between the Rockies and Red Sox was $100 million. The gap just keeps getting wider. Where it will be in five years?

    You're right. Everything is fine.

Sure, it's an advantage for NY and BOS to spend so much money.

Cleveland, Colorado, Oakland, Minnesota, Florida, Arizona, Milwaukee, etc., have proven it is not necessary to do so and put a quality product on the field.

The Indians did not lose to Boston in the ALCS b/c Boston paid its players about $100 million more. They lost b/c their players did not perform in the clutch. Rockies lost cuz Boston was better; they would have lost to the Indians as well. AL is better overall.

Meanwhile, the perfect NFL continues to see greater disparity year after year despite brainwashing attempts to the contrary: this year two winless teams and another with one win; last year six teams with 5 or less wins; seven of them in 2005 and 2004.

That thinking is headlined by this idiot who in the space of eight paragraphs says in the NFL, anyone can win on any given Sunday and every AFC team is serving as a doormat for the Colts and Patriots runs to the AFC Championship: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/college/bal-sp.steele28oct28,0,401471.column

What, I thought anyone could beat anyone??

The Phillies are in need of a power-hitting third baseman (can you imagine an infield of Howard, Utley, Rollins, ARod?). Unfortunately they need pitching more and will likely be spending the money there instead.

Don't think D-3's a Sox fan, Pastor. Personally, I don't care one way or the other, other than it makes A-Rod and Boras look like foofs.
