    From the NY Daily News

"It's clear he didn't want to be a Yankee," Hank Steinbrenner told the Daily News last night. "He doesn't understand the privilege of being a Yankee on a team where the owners are willing to pay $200 million to put a winning product on the field.
"I don't want anybody on my team that doesn't want to be a Yankee."

That'd be fun to watch. The Philly fandom is so nurturing and understanding when a star struggles. Especially in the postseason.

He is right, it is a privilege to play for a franchise such as the Yankees, and A-Rod never got that part of it.

Funny twist. The Yankees never understood it was a privilege to have a player like Rodriguez.

By "the Yankees," I'm presuming you mean "the fans."

Fuck him. Sounds like Steinbrenner fils is quickly aiming to be more loathsome than Steinbrenner pere.

If there is any "privilege" (and there isn't) associated with being a Yankee, it isn't because dimwit owners stagger around throwing their giant wallet at whoever happens to be a free agent. It comes from their history.

And players. And ownership. I didn't see guys rushing to his defense a whole lot.

Why should they, jag? He's a grown man. Not quite 40, but he's the father of children.

Because teammates are supposed to stick together? Because the criticism of Rodriguez was absurd? Because he won two MVPs in four years and bailed out their sorry asses? Those reasons are just off the top of my head.

All I said was the Yankees didn't appreciate that they had one of the top 10 players of all-time. Maybe if he leaves they'll realize how great he was for them.

Or they can just worship the Jeter shrine and pretend it's still 1999.

The Sox will sign him. He's been a John Henry favorite for years, and they've had a relationship since Rodriguez signed with Texas. Manny comes off the books next year, Ortiz is beginning to fall apart physically, and they'll need a new anchor in that lineup, particularly since they're stuck w/Lugo, Drew and a fading Varitek in the order for the next few seasons, and the farm system, while strong in many areas, doesn't have a lot of power. If JWH has demonstrated anything, it's that when marquee talent is available, he can't resist (Dice-K, made several runs at Clemens, Schilling, etc.).

I, for one, am going to enjoy the Yankees sucking balls next year.

    And suck balls they will.
